Every layperson is aware of the term hearing loss which is also termed as hearing impairment or deaf. The partial loss or complete hearing loss is caused due to lack of anything in the body or defect. It is stated that nearly 3 out of every 1000 newborns have hearing loss or problem since their childbirth.
The two main causes of hearing loss are sensor and the conductive neural.
1. Conductive Causes: The hearing loss due to the movement problem of the sound waves through the ear. One of its example is ear canal blockage. There are other problems as well that you may know about.
2. Sensorineural Causes: The cells of nerves or hair are broken that becomes the cause of loss of sound waves.
As now the technology has become advanced and so it has made hearing treatment very easy. Hearing treatment can by categorized into two types; treatment for reversible hearing loss and permanent hearing loss.
In the case of reversible hearing impairment, causes are really very important. Most of the time this treated successfully. In case of permanent hearing loss, the major factors are age and noise induction and for this there is no as such hearing treatment but the hearing aids may help a little.
Talking about the age factor, the first thing that clicks our mind is Presbycusis. Many people might be unfamiliar with this word but this is the most common problem of hearing that is seen in the old age. It has been stated that Presbycusis occurs in nearly 30% to 35% in people aged between 65 and 75 years. The main symptoms that a person may experience when attacked by the Presbycusis are unusual sounds and one hardly understands what other people are saying.
There are levels of Presbycusis that are mild, moderate and severe. If we define conductive hearing loss in simple words then we can say that it is loss of ability of hear the sounds with age. It is usually caused when there is a change in blood supply due to heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes or other circulatory problem.
The other cause of Conductive hearing loss can be prevented that is noise exposure. It is very important to have know how of the gadgets that may become the reason of hearing impairment. These gadgets may be like the wood working machines, firearms and lawn mowers and so on. These gadgets damages the hearing ability in the long run so beware to avoid them in excessive use.
For enjoying the life, hearing plays one of the most important role. You should not put your hearing at risk. You can't do anything preventive in case of age factor but if there is another case then you should be careful. A bit of more research can help you in finding more details.
